The Banquette..nearly done now

We are sooooo close.  I’ll be you’ve said – or heard – that before.  Want to see?

Chris testing the new Banquette

This was taken during the banquette’s inaugural trip this last August.  That is Chris, looking pretty smug there drinking his coffee in his banquette!  There is even a computer right next to him- of course.

The foam was done, the Dacron glued and some quick slipcovers made from some random Ikea fabric that I had laying around. Actually, three different fabrics but that is another tale;  just enough to get the banquette up and rolling so we could spend a week here:

Amazing isn’t it?

Amazing, Isn't it?

So, with all this splendor aside, what did we learn? Well, 3″ Latex foam covered with Dacron is definitely fine to sit on but lacks a bit when it comes to sleeping.

I thought I was going to have be put in traction when I got home.

So we have purchased 1 1/2″ memory foam mattress toppers from Target (yes, Target), they are really pretty darn cheap and absolutely do the trick.  So I am going to re-do the cushions with better fabric and the memory foam topper. It should be easier on my back.
